Andre 'Dre' Ransom

March 3, 1976 - February 28, 2021

Andre “Dre” Ransom, 44, formerly of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. Buckle up and take this ride as we journey Andre’s rollercoaster of life.

Andre was born on March 3, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1994 a proud Steelman. He briefly attended the Ohio State University after high school. Andre later started his career in amusement parks working at Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio. He tolerated the state Michigan for a few years while a Ride Operations Manager at Michigan’s Adventure. He later sought forgiveness from the great state of Ohio and returned to share his talents with the Geauga Lake crew. Andre loved to travel from coast to coast and explore new places. The sunshine state was calling his name, so Andre packed his bags and moved to Florida to work at the Kennedy Space Center. Andre was a passionate fan of the Ohio State University. He enjoyed professional sports teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The bright lights of New York City could not leave Andre’s mind, so he later gave in to his dreams and moved to the big city. Ohio always will be in Andre’s heart, but NYC was where he wanted to be. He moved to Brooklyn and took a position as a Manager of Ride Operations at Luna Park. Andre worked in that position until he suffered a stroke in 2014. He was focused, determined, and a fighter. Andre sought to return working at the local amusement park, Carowinds and prepared to do so. Sadly, Andre passed away before he could achieve that goal.

Andre was beloved by family and friends alike. His personality could light up a room, leaving smiles on the faces of all he met. A smart guy, that liked to have fun, was he.

Andre is survived by his mother, Mary E. Skinner (Dennis); sister, Angell (Jamal) Gladden Sr.; brother, Rolondo Ransom; sister, Alia Garland; stepsister, Serina (Sam) Kelley; stepbrother, James (Emily) Skinner; nephews, B.J. & Jadi Gladden, Jacob Walker, Xavier Champion, Z.J.
