Rose M Dower

November 1, 1947 - January 3, 2021

Rose Marie Dower, a true matriarch, was born November 1, 1947. She departed this life on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Mother Dower was a faithful parishioner of God's Kingdom Worship Center in Lorain under the tutelage of her son-in-law, Apostle Charles Howard, and daughter, Pastor Valerie Howard.

Mother Dower attended Lorain High school. She was an avid reader growing up, and she enjoyed listening to music. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, becoming engulfed with the things of God. She was caring, thoughtful, sweet, kind, and loving; those who were close to her called her "Rosie." Her nurturing personality was developed when she as a child, but it was exemplified when she became an STNA. Mother Dower was later employed as a dedicated, hardworking and faithful employee of the Ford Motor Company where she worked until she retired. While there she created life-long friendships and memories.

Mother Dower was a true missionary who served on the bereavement, hospitality, and Pastor's Aide Committee of her church. She worked wherever she was needed without complaint, and always gave the best of her service. Though she was incredibly soft spoken, her voice boisterously rang as she praised the Lord. Mother Dower’s love for God was apparent in her constant proclamation, “My soul is anchored in the Lord."

Family was Mother Dower's everything and hosting family dinners became the traditional norm. She loved Jazz. Attending the annual Dave’s Koz and friends Christmas concerts was highly anticipated each year.

Mother Rose Dower is survived by her children, Anthony (Renita) Overton, David (Angela) Overton (Louisville Kentucky) and Valerie (Charles) Howard all from Lorain, and step-children, Pam and Lametra; grandchildren, Micah Jr. William Jr, Cory, Kristian, Lil David, Brandon, Alice (Muff), Kristen, Bryon, Jasmine and Ashton and a multitude of step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a blessed friend, David Dower; sisters, Gwen, Kathress, Fay (Savannah Georgia), Teresa and Cynthia all from Lorain; brother, Gregory Overton (Cleveland); extraordinary friends; several God children and a multitude of natural and church family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Elizabeth Overton; son, William Overton; grandson, Charles Howard Jr.; brothers, Charles, Tommy, Kenneth and Cordell Overton, and other family members and close friends.
