Lois Brooks

September 23, 1929 - November 9, 2018

Mrs. Lois Brooks (née Wofford) died peacefully in the Cleveland Clinic on November 9, 2018 Cleveland Ohio at the age of 89.

Lois was born on September 23, 1929 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to George and Ramah Wofford. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1948. She married Wayne Brooks, who relentlessly pursued her because “he loved her smile” in 1949. While Wayne served as a Sergeant in the US Army, they moved to Los Angeles where he was stationed, Lois worked as a Librarian’s Assistant. In over fifteen years the couple welcomed six children into their home and Lois set about teaching their five girls the lessons to be successful ladies, and Wayne took their son under his wing and taught him all he knew as a contractor, a hunter and fisherman. Her children remember her as a loving, kind, gentle and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Lois became convinced through in-depth study of the Bible and meditating on the scriptures that Jehovah is the true God. She dedicated her life to him in 1972. Her heart was full of love for mankind and she was a passionate active preacher of the Good News of God’s Kingdom and helped many come to know Jehovah by studying the bible with them. She knew that Jehovah would use his kingdom government to restore the earth to a paradise and resurrect those who had fallen asleep in death.

Lois is survived by her children, Chloe Velasquez of Pittsburgh PA, Olivia and Paul Scrivanich of Newport OR, Cynthia Brooks of Lorain OH, Elizabeth Brooks-Willis of Louisville KY, Kenneth and Terry Brooks of Lorain OH, Georgia Alberta and Dale Curry of Lorain OH; her sister, Chloe Morrison of Grand View on the Hudson NY; grandchildren, Eric Love, Sage Velasquez, Devin Brooks, Kenneth Brooks and Anissa Brooks-Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Brooks; parents, George and Ramah Wofford; siblings, Robert Wofford, George Wofford and Raymond Wofford.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain OH 44052. The memorial service will be Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 1:00 PM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2340 Crehore Street, Lorain OH 44052.
