Gwen Nunnally

Gwen Nunnally (nee Miller), 76, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

She was born to the union of Russell Miller Jr. & Mabel Miller in Bluefield, West Virginia on September 29, 1942 where she graduated from Park Central High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and then to Lorain, Ohio in 1964. She worked at Lorain Community Hospital for at least 10 years, then briefly for Ford Motor Co., and later retired from Meister Road Home after 15 years of service.

She was a former member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Lorain, then joining Friendship Baptist Church of Lorain where she was a member for over 27 years. She was a member of the Senior Choir for five years under the direction of Eloise Blackman; the Senior Choir later became the Inspirational Choir which she was a member for 27 years; and was a member of the Usher Board.

Gwen was involved in the church community as a member of the Friendly Promoter-Booster Club for 27 years, serving as president for over 23 years. During her time as a member of the Booster Club she would travel to the radio station on Sunday mornings with members of the Friendly Promoter Club to do a live broadcast of music and announcements for churches in the Northeast Ohio area, and helped the Booster Club present their annual Salad Fest-Style Show for twenty years. She was also a member of the Iron Stallions Motorcycle Club for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking trips back to her hometown to visit with family, friends, and attend her high school reunions. She loved watching football, NASCAR racing, playing cards and listening to music.

Gwen leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Andrew (Viola) Nunnally, Aaron Dennis Nunnally, James A. Nunnally and Jason A. Nunnally; two grandchildren, Eric Donald and Ja’kai Nunnally, and a great grandson, William Donald; a sister, Brenda Y Eaves of Bluefield, West Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Miller Jr. and Mable Miller; a sister, Peola Hester; three brothers, Donald Miller, Charles Miller and Russell “Butch” Miller III.

Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 2160 Reeves Ave, Lorain. Rev. John R. Jackson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
