Marcelle "Moma" Flowers

March 11, 1943 - August 8, 2018

Marcelle “Moma” Flowers, 75, of Lorain, peacefully passed away on August 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born March 11, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia and lived most of her life in Lorain.

She was a member of New Morning Star Primitive Baptist Church in Lorain for 58 years where she was a church mother, member and president of the usher board, and a trustee. She was a former member of the Lorain County Community Choir and a former gospel promoter with Sound and Gospel. She enjoyed watching Matlock, wrestling, and Lifetime movies. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marcelle is survived by her children, Reginald Weatherington (Stephanie), Andrea Hoskins (Danny), Anita Taylor (Billy), Master Willie Flowers III, Antoinette Flowers, Alivia Moore (Desmond), Dorothy Flowers, Sunja Flowers, Jatonya Charlton, Ania and Branden Phillips; a sister, Claudia Carter; 33 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; special goddaughter, Da’Mycha Smith; and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Willie Flowers Jr; her parents, Harold and Dorothy Hackney; and a brother, James Hackney.

Visiting hours will be Thursday August 16, 2018 from 6PM – 8PM at God’s Believers in Christ Church (formerly Compassion Baptist Church), 520 W 22nd St, Lorain, where funeral services will be held Friday August 17, 2018 at 11AM. Elder Douglas Price, pastor of New Morning Star, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
