William "Drako" Davis

January 31, 1939 - July 7, 2018

William Henry “Drako” Davis, 79, passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord on July 7, 2018 at The Laurels of Gahanna Nursing Home in Gahanna, Ohio.

He was born on January 31, 1939 in Bessemer, Alabama. His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1944 and he grew up as the eldest of eight children. While living in Cleveland he received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Ross. He attended and graduated from John Adams High School where he played football throughout his high school years. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Laura. William later moved to Lorain, Ohio where he worked at Ford Motor Company. During this time he sang in the doo-wop group, The Infatuators, whose recordings reached the Billboard charts.

William enjoyed football and loved to sing.

He was preceded in death by a son, Victor Davis; his parents, Rev. Benjamin and Julia Davis; a sister, Bennie Davis, and a brother, Bruce Davis.

William is survived by a son, Steve Vickers, and a daughter, Shelia Johnson; sisters, Charlie Mae Davis, Barbara White-Terry, and Patricia Davis; brothers, Benjamin Davis Jr. (Barbara), and Lemmie Davis; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was also supported by his Nord family for many years, for which he was truly grateful.
