Frank Brown

May 9, 1939 - March 8, 2018

Frank Brown, 78, of Elyria, transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, March 8, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria, Ohio. He was born on May 9, 1939 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the union of London Brown Sr. and Martha Jane Franklin, and was a longtime resident of Lorain County.

Frank retired from the Lorain City Schools where he was school custodian for many years. He was a devoted member of The University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, Cancer Support Group, located in Elyria; he always invited his nieces and nephews the be his guest at the meeting to learn more about colon cancer. He was a mentor to many when dealing with the overwhelming task of healing and information about the subject of colon cancer. Frank use to walk the Midway Mall with his other "seasoned" friends to get exercise. Frank became the family patriarch when his brother London died, and weekly would call his nieces and nephews and other family members to see how they were doing. If he didn't reach you, he would call back, or leave a message. He was dedicated to his family and loved to go to family events when humanly possible. He was a very knowledgeable man with an extremely good memory. Frank fought to live, despite his physical challenges. He was a former little league baseball coach in Elyria and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed reading, walking, listening to music, and telling stories and jokes. He loved life and his family and was a true champion.

Frank leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Carol (Burrell) Brown; two sons, Alvin Burrell (Donna) of Cleveland OH, and Sean Brown of Elyria OH; four brothers, Bud Brown of Atlanta GA, Kevin Brown (Jonetta), Robert Brown, and Richard Brown of Kansas City MO; two sisters, Karen Brown of Kansas City MO, and Margaret Brown of Memphis TN; a goddaughter, Jacquelyn Maxwell Long (Isaac); ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, London Brown Jr. and Huntyce Franklin, a sister, Kathy Brown, his father, London Brown Sr., and mother, Martha Franklin.
