Roger Dale "Pappy" Aldridge

March 30, 1956 - January 17, 2018

Roger Dale “Pappy” Aldridge, of Lorain, born March 30, 1946 in Puryear, Tennessee, departed in the early morning of January 17, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Lorain.

Roger was drafted into the Armed Forces of the United States in 1965 and was a Vietnam Veteran. In the 1st of 25th Infantry Division he was ranked Specialist 4. He was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal, and also received the Marksmanship Award. He moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1978 where he worked at U.S. Steel until retiring in 2010. He was president of the Afro Dogs Motorcycle Club during the 1980's and also owned and operated Pappy's Bar and Grille for nearly twenty years. His hobbies included fishing, playing pool, listening to blues, grilling, attending M/C functions, and spending time with his family. Roger was a Free Mason for Prince Hall Buckeye Lodge #68 in Lorain and was a member of the American Legion #30.

He leaves to cherish his memory his life-long partner, Inez Jones; two sons, Roger Dale Jones Jr. (Renee), and Malik Jordan Dale Smith (Claudia), of Lorain; five daughters, Kanecia Parker of Morrow GA, April Jones (Bob), Diana Jones (Kimble), Laurie Jones (Stephen), and Tasha Smith, and god-daughter, Doniss Lawhorn, all of Lorain; two brothers, Tilmon Aldridge of Lorain and Mozell Jones of Evansville IN; two sisters, Debra Ann Aldridge and Roberta Huff, of Lorain; nine granddaughters, Brittaney, Rashaniqua, Myesha, Marisha, Jasmine, Lakita, Shaunaija, Sanai, and LeAnte; five grandsons, Roger III, Artrell, Jamir, Miguel Jr., and Damion; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Aldridge and Charlie Bell Aldridge (nee Martin); two sisters, Betty Mae Aldridge and Millie Hubbard; two brothers, James Herbert Aldridge and MC Aldridge; an infant grandson, Shawn Louis Hall Jr.; and a niece, Lynn Garcia.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m., with Masonic services held at 10:30 a.m., at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with full military honors conducted by AMVETS Post 32.
