Clarence "Jerry" Warfield

January 24, 1938 - August 10, 2017

Clarence “Jerry” Warfield passed on to glory on August 10, 2017 in Lorain, Ohio. He was born to Clarence E. & Augusta M. (Anderson) Warfield, on January 24, 1938 in Sandusky Ohio.

He graduated in the Class of 1957 from Sandusky High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track for four years. He attended Kent State University on an academic and football scholarship and played football and ran the hurdles while in college. He obtained a degree in Fine and Professional Science Industrial Technology in August 1963.

He lived in Lorain for over 60 years where he worked at Hawthorne Middle School as an Industrial Art Instructor by day and at Ford Motor Company by night. While working full time, he earned an MBA from Baldwin Wallace in 1983. Jerry was employed by Ford for 35 years in the positions of Foreman of major press lines, General Foreman, Labor Relations Representative, Apprenticeship Coordinator, Scrap Czar, Shift Manager, and Quality Representative (in Chicago and Atlanta).

Jerry was a Deacon at Compassion Baptist Church and God’s Universal Church of the Harvest in Lorain. He was a baseball coach and an avid tennis player, and enjoyed hosting golf, tennis and track events. In 1992, Jerry and several others in the community organized to purchase and develop Harrison Cultural Community Centre to help serve the people of Lorain County.

Clarence “Jerry” Warfield leaves to mourn his wife, Valerie; 4 sons, C. Ryan (Vernita) of Lorain, Craig (Lisa) of Louisville KY, Derrick (Audrena) of Lexington KY, and Keith of Lorain; 1 stepdaughter, Danielle Calhoun of Virginia; 15 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Seretha (Samuel) Taylor and Vera (Herman) Moore of Sandusky; 2 brothers, Dale Warfield of Oklahoma City and Donald Warfield of Lorain; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence E. & Augusta M. (Anderson) Warfield; stepfather, Ernest Burke; his brother, Ronald Warfield; and his first wife and mother of his children, Deloris (Gresham) Warfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10AM until time of his homegoing service at 11AM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Ave., Lorain OH 44055, with Bishop Peter Tower officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
